Introduction
Charles Dickens is said to be one of the greatest writers that has ever lived. Before we read his classic novel A Christmas Carol you will be spending some time getting to know this man and learning what the world was like as he knew it.
In order to understand the man, you need to understand the times that he lived in. You will delve into the Victorian Era (during the reign of Queen Victoria 1837-1901) in England. You will investigate how the Industrial Revolution affected him, you will learn the hardships faced by the poor, you will learn about how childhood and education were dependent on your family's finances, and you will be amazed by the inventions from the era, many of which are still used today.
Each group member will have a different research assignment task.
You will each prepare three or more Google slides regarding your topic.
At the end of the research, you will synthesize the information gathered to make a statement of how the times he lived in may have affected Charles Dickens.
You will create a unified Google Slideshow to be submitted to Mrs. Guerrini by November 21st. Your group will submit your Google Slideshow to our Google classroom page.
