Introduction
During our webquest, we will be researching elements and drawing atoms. You will have to study the periodic table to help you with the tasks that are given.
Task
- You must memorize the entire Periodic Table then, without looking, write as many elements as you can on a piece of paper in only three minutes. Include the chemical symbol and name. (30points)
- Next, you will be given a worksheet. Draw the atoms listed using the planetary diagram model. you must lable the protons, neutrons, and electrons on at least three of the drawings. Then, circle the valence electrons on all of them. (10points)
- Have you learned a lot? Well, it is now time for your test! (50points)
Process
Memorization of the Periodic Table:
- Memorize the periodic table (http://periodic.lanl.gov/index.shtml)
- Without looking, write as many elements as you can on a piece of paper in only three minutes. Include the chemical symbol and name.
- This is worth 30 points
Drawing Atoms:
- Draw a planetary diagram of 10 atoms of your choice
- Lable protons, neutrons, and electrons
- Circle the valence electrons
- This is worth 10 points
Test:
- There will be 25 questions reviewing what we have learned
- This will be worth 50 points
