Cell Structure and Function

Introduction

Topic: Cell structure and Function

Grade: 8-10 year level

Author: Lenet Asudiya

WELCOME!

In this Webquest you will learn about cell structure and function.

Objective: Describe cellular structure and function.

Enduring Understanding: Living things are made of smaller structures called cells. There are differences between plant and animal cells. Substances move into and out of cells because of osmosis and diffusion.

Essential Questions:

  • What is the structural unit of all living things?
  • What is the difference between plant and animal cell?
  • What are essential part of a cell?
  • How do cells move food into the cell and waste outside?

  2. Bacteria are ..............................................
  3. There are two types of ER: ..................................................ER and ........................................ER.
  4. Mitochondria burns sugar for fuel in a process of ..................................................... ad they are called the ........................................... of the cell.
  5. Plant cells have another type of organelles called ........................................ that is not found in animal cells.

 Assignment:

Your assignment is to create a presentation to share the information you have learned about the Cell Structure and Function.

You can choose the form of presentation (Powerpoint, Prezi, Emaze, Keynotes) or an information report.

It must include pictures and text.

It must be interesting to look at.

You must use your imagination!

Process

Step 1: The student will go to the links provided, read and look at the information provided below.

Step 2:The student will take notes on his/her think sheets as they watch the video clips.

Step 3:The student will then open the task document and begin to answer the questionnaire.

Step 4: The students use the knowledge they've gained and do some research to create their presentations.

Conclusion

Yay!!

You are finally at the end of your Cell structure and Function webquest and you must be so excited to share what you have learnt. You are now aware of the various types of cells and their similarities and diffrences. You should also be able to list the organelles in cell and their funstions.

Have fun sharing this new information with your friends and families. You may also invite others to watch your presentation.
