Revelations: The Scroll and the Seven Seals

Introduction

   Revelations can become a lifetime study, as can the entire content of the bible. With this assignment you will learn about the opening the scroll and the breaking of the six seals. However, keep in mind that no one can be completely sure of what John's vision meant, not even John himself! Therefore, don't stress yourself over trying to understand the symbolic meanings in detail. The websites you will use are merely inerpretations of people, so you don't have to agree with all of them; though reading from different perspectives can help you come to the conclusion of your own view. Task

   Your Webquest assignment should help you understand the following things.

  1. The relation between the opening of the scroll and the breaking of the seven seals.
  2. What are the effects of each of the seven seals.

   You will keep track of your work by writing them down in the journal or seperate sheets of paper daily. This assignment is meant to take only 2 days, however you can take breaks in between both steps as you wish. One thing to consider is you will need access to a bible,though you may search for online bible translations. I recommended a few in the ''process section''.

  Day 1: The Scroll / The First, Second, Third, and Fourth Seal

  Use all websites and write at least 5 paragraphs about the meaning of the scroll and the breaking of the seals in your own words once you have finished reading the website passages. Before you begin, read chapter 5 in Revelations and write down what you think John's vision is about. Then read chapter 6 verses 1-8 and list possible representations of the riders on the horses. You may compare your list's results with the information of your revised paragraph.

 

  Day 2: The Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Seal 

  Use the websites once again and write a minimum of 3 paragraphs about what the bible says of the last three seals which differ somewhat from the other seals. Then make a chart like the one below to show the sequence of the seals, your interpreatation, and a drawing of what you visualized when you read the bible verses for the scroll and the seals.

Conclusion

I enjoy trying to understand what the horse riders represent such as the third living being holding a pair of scalves; it is interpreted to represent famine.
