Introduction
Hey class!
Just like you all, Parker is learning about potential energy and kinetic energy. Parker is also playing soccer right now and is curious on how potential and kinetic energy are used on the field.
Can you all help him?
Task
- Define potential and kinetic energy.
- Provide an example of both types of energy.
- Determine two ways that potential energy is used in Parker's soccer game.
- Explain two ways that kinetic energy is used in Parker's soccer game.
- In your group, act out a visual representation while explaining what is happening with the soccer ball.
Process
Step 1:
You will be devided into groups of 3.
In your group you will work together to complete every task.
Take turns writing out the answers. One person will not do all the writing.
Step 2:
Complete numbers 1-4 of the tasks you are given.
Step 3:
Each person in the group needs to pick a different role from the following:
A. The passer
B. The reciever
C. The explainer
Step 4:
Decide how the group wants to organize the demonstration.
Step 5:
Watch the other groups present and wait quietly until it your turn to present.
Evaluation
Each person will recieve their own grade based on the following:
1. Did the student follow directions?
2. Did the student cooperate with the group?
3. Did the student take part in the discussion of answers?
4. Did the student correctly represent their part of the demonstration?
Conclusion
During this webquest you have learned how potential energy and kinetic energy are involved in Parker's soccer game. Parker is very thankful for helping him figure everything out. You all did a wonderful job!
