Introduction
Students will engage in webquest activities to explore careers, their interests, evaluate their strengths and areas to improve, think ahead to set goals, and interact with peer partners. Through basic skills assessments, they will choose careers to research that align with their skills and abilities. After engaging in this unit students should:
- Know what are career goals and will know understand the importance of setting their career goals so that they would be able to identify their desired careers.
- Know how to set effective Career goals
- Match their career goals with desired Careers
Task
- Students should do a self-assessment of themselves and their classmates and explore careers that best match their personality and their likes using the internet.
- Students should create and present their career goals. They will now compare their career goals to their desired careers and see how best these goals match their career of choices. Students will use their problem solving skills to compare their career goals to other careers that would also be suitable for them.
Process
Students will browse the internet to find information on careers they might be interested in. After which the students will evaluate themselves to see if the career matches them in any way and compare the findings.
Conclusion
This activity allows students to transfer acquired knowledge in a new environment. This requires them to utilize higher order thinking. Additionally, it provides the opportunity for students to tap into their creativity, utilize more than one intelligence (as they are engaged in listening, thinking and writing) and collaborate.
