Business Code of Ethics Board Game

Introduction

Time to think outside of the box!

So far this semester we have taken deep dives into the world of economics, marketing, stock market investing, finance and business planning.

Recently we have had a more pinpointed focus on leadership skills, codes of conduct and ethical dilemmas and decisions.

In this (predetermined) group assignment we will be creating a playable board game that encompasses the questions and elements surrounding ethical decisions in business.

Task

In assigned groups, we are creating a board game to solidify the ideas associated with business ethics. You and your creative team will work together to brainstorm the idea.

Board Game Creation Guidelines:

1. Games must present, in some way, a moral/ethical dilemma or decision as the main selling point of the game. Ex: an ultimatum like go one way and you make $100 but 3 people lose their job but go another way and your employees get $10 a piece. In this scenario you would have more of a monopoly style game.

2. The game must have a written, clear set of rules that can be followed by the class, called the code of ethics.

3. You must present a clear way to win and/or lose.

4. Games must be creative, well-thought out and revolve around business ethics.

5. You must build a prototype as a team by Friday.

6. You must have a clear role defined for every member of your creative team. Be prepared to discuss each team member's contribution and how you worked with the team to successfully accomplish your tasks.

Process

Use your collective brains and create a business environment board game driven by a strong code of ethics (the game rules)!!

Begin by reviewing your notes in your notebooks on leadership. Pay special attention to the section titled “ethical dilemmas and key terms”. Be sure to use this information in your development.

After researching your notes, expand your research to your chrome books to find common workplace concerns surrounding ethics and the solutions created to resolve them. Utilize this information in your game development.

Once you have compiled a foundation of information, think outside the box on the design of your board game. Ask questions like:

Would this be fun if I played?

What would my friends and I like to see?

How can we make this different than your typical board game?

Work as a team to clearly define each member’s role and responsibilities for the project.

A prototype (draft version) of the playable game will be due with the submission along with the “code of ethics” which is your game rules for how to play. You can follow the rubric for the checkpoints on what is required.

Remember to have fun!

Evaluation
Conclusion

My objective for this project is for us to creatively differentiate right from wrong when it comes to business decisions.

Hopefully while attempting to accomplish this goal, you have fun and challenge your creative comfort zone to develop a cool new game with friends.
