British Invasion (exploring the music and classic British poems)

Introduction

We kicked the Brits out in 1776, but they returned in 1960.

You will be using this webquest to investigate the British Invasion and to discover British poetry.

By the end of this webquest, you will be better acquainted with different British bands and poets, stronger at analyzing their works,  more prepared to share your reactions and opinions, and capable of comparing and contrasting the works.

Task

Your group will become the Resident Experts on one song and its band and one poem and its poet.  You will have a graphic organizer to help organze -- a bit redundant -- your information and later to create a one-pager to share your expertise with the class.

I will assign your groups, song, and poem.

The process box below will guide your learning.

A.  Find and copy down or print your song lyrics and poem, or you can make digital copies.  Whichever you choose, you need easy access to your texts.

Conclusion

Well done! I hope your exploration of British songs and poems gave you some new insights into British poetry.  If you discovered some "new" music, all the better.

Each song and poem you researched was famous for its own reasons and worthy of your attention.

Hopefully, your ability to respond to poetry, and compare and contrast different works, has strengthened. I know poetry can be difficult to understand at times, seemingly "boring" compared to modern literature, but it is an art form full of grace and eloquence.
