Create "International Newspaper" Webquest

Introduction

Welcome to Ms. Brigger's Current Events WebQuest!!!

You will be compiling news stories from around the globe to create an International Newspaper.  You will be focusing on the following questions:

1. What is happening around the world?

2. How do current events from around the world impact my life?

Task

Your task is to choose a topic and compile news articles from around the globe that are about your topic.  You will then EACH write a reflection about how two of the articles are meaningful to you on a personal level.  You can create your "Newspaper" in either Word, PowerPoint, or Publisher.  If you create it in any other format, you MUST turn it into a .pdf before sharing it with me.

Steps:

1. Choose a focus for your "newspaper."  Although you are not limited to these, here are some suggestions:

    - Headline News

    - Financial News

    - Sports (Can't all be one sport or one league, even if it is international)

    - Entertainment (Can't be all music or all movies, etc.)

    - Science and Technology

    - Special Interests (education, gender issues, Christian, LGBTQ issues, etc.)

2. Open a file in Word, PowerPoint, or Publisher and create a name for your newspaper.  The name should reflect your topic.

3. Scour the net for articles to put in your newspaper.  I have included some websites under the "Process" section of the quest.  Here are the requirements:

-You MUST have four articles from four different continents.

-You MUST give credit to the author of the article and the source.

-Your sources MUST be credible. Be sure to evaluate your sources.

4. Each individual must write a 100-200 word reflection about how TWO of those articles are personally meaningful to you.  Put this reflection in your newspaper with a title.

5. Share your newspaper with me through google docs.
