Ocean Adventures

This WebQuest is made for first or second graders. 

This WebQuest is about Ocean life and the

 different animals that live in the ocean. 

Have you ever thought about what lives in the ocean? Or how far down an animal could live? This is excactly what you guys are going to find out. You will be conducting research for Dr. Deepsea.

Task

Your task is that you will be helping Dr. Deepsea learn more about the different types of animals that live in the ocean. How deep does that animal live? Do they like warm or cold water? What kind of food do they eat? You willl find out all these answers in our underwater search! You will create a presentation for Doctor Deepsea and teach him about your animal.  

Process

Step One: I will give you your ocean animal and you will use the following websites below to reasearch your animal.

Step 2: Next decide if you want to make a story, a poster, or a powerpoint 

Step 3: Start creating your project and making sure you have all the requirements

-Information to look for: 

1)What does your animal eat?

2)What water temperature does your animal live in?

3)How big does your animal grow up to?

4)Does your animal travel in packs or alone?

5) Is this animal endangered? 

6) How deep does your animal live in the ocean? What level? 

Step 4: finalize project and prepare to present it to the class.

Conclusion

Good job everyone! You all have successfully scuba dived through the ocean finding and researching your animals. Dr. Deepsea is very impressed with all of your hard work. He is now going to go scuba diving to look at your animals becuase you helped him so much. We now all know that some animals live in cold or warm water, eat different foods, and grow to different lenghts. You all are amazing ocean researchers and Dr. Deepsea hopes you can help him again soon.

This WebQuest is a lesson based on ocean life for second to third grade students. In this WebQuest the student will be researching an ocean animal and doing a project on that specific animal. 

Teacher Introduction: 

This lesson is going together with learning about the ocean and ocean life. In the WebQuest they are given rescources and questions that should be answered. This WebQuest is clear and will give the students good practice using the web to find information. This will also help them be more intersted on the topic. They will learn about other students animals as well when they present. It will also make them more intersted in learning about their animal and they will enjoy doing the project. 

Learners: 

This lesson is made for second and third graders. The lesson is ocean and science based. 

Standards: 

In this lesson the children will gain knowledge of the ocean and the animals that live in it. Also will see the differences in animals that live in water than the land.

I think the steps are easy and self explanatory. I beleive that any teacher could do this project.

Evaluation: 

I will be looking that the child understands their animal. I also want to see that their project has thought put into it and is well thought out. The project should be organized and have all questions answered. The student should also be getting their information across to the other students in the class. 

Conclusion: 

I think this assignment is important becuase it gives them new knowledge. Another reason it is goo becuase it will introduce the students to presenting and being resposible to teach their peers information. I think having an understanding of the ocean and the life that lives in it is important.
