The Daily Persian
You are an ancient Persian journalist!You will be publishing a Persian newspaper that highlights the people, the places, and events leading up to the fall of the Persian Empire. It will show how the ancient Persians lived on a daily basis. You will want to demonstrate what you know about important battles, Kings of the Persian empire, favorite facts and stories, as well as free choice opinions involving how you feel about the growth and fall of the Persian Empire. You will be combining these ideas into your very own newspaper! Get ready to have some fun!!
Task
THE BIG IDEA: Being the biggest and most powerful empire was the most important goal for ancient Persia's leaders.
The Persian Wars were a tumultous time in Persia's history. Losing to the Greeks weakened the Persian Empire until it eventually was able to be taken over by Alexander the Great. After Alexander's death, the Persians began to reject some of the Hellenistic ideas that Alexander brought during his reign. You will use the information you have learned and will learn during your research to complete the following project.
Your task will be to design a newspaper that highlights several important aspects of the Persian Empire prior to its fall to Alexander the Great. Your stories should be based on facts from researching this time period. Your newspaper should reflect your understanding of THE BIG IDEA.
