Introduction
Welcome students! For this Webquest activity, I want all of you to come up with something creative yet educational. As we have been discussing reading and litercay in class, this assignment will help you all become better and successful readers. I hope you all enjoy this activity but mostly I hope that it makes you want to engage in more reading actvities outside of the classroom!
Task
Since Reading and Literacy have been our main topics in the classroom, I want all of you to choose two of your favorite books. The books have to be at least 100 pages long. After reading the two books you have chosen, I want you all to write a 2 page summary for each book and then write a 1 page biography about the author. To make it creative, I want you to put these three pages of work into a color construction paper book. You may create your covers as creative as you want! Be creative! This assignment will be fun and exciting!
Process
Step 1
Chose two of your favorite books. Like I said in the Task tab, they must be 100 pages long. After choosing your books, I then want you to read them.
Step 2
After reading your two books, I then want you to write two book reports summarizing the two novels. They need be fully summarized and at the end, add what your favorite part was in the book. Your book report must be 2 full pages
Step 3
When you finish writing your two book reports, I then want you to write a 1 page biography about the author of your book. Since you will have two books, their will be two authors, resulting in 2 biography's. Make sure that you keep your book reports organized so you won't get any pages mixed up with each other.
Step 4
This will be the more fun and creative part of the assignment. Since you have now finished two book reports (including 2 pages of the summary and 1 biography for each book) I now want you to create your own book cover. You will need two pieces of construction paper for each book report. Now for the fun part. I want you to think about your favorite part in the book and draw it for the book cover. Remember to be creative since techniqually you are creating your own book. You may draw something on the back of your construction paper book but it is not required.
Step 5
After you finish creating your two book covers, you will then need to hole punch everything and start to put your handmade books together. To make sure they stay together, you will need string or a ribbon to tie through each hole. Their should be three holes on each page.
Step 6
You have now created your homemade book! You should be very proud of yourself! When you come into class next, each student will pick their favorite book that they had made and will come up in the front of the classroom to present your masterpiece. Both of your book reports will be turned into to me!
