Beyond the Play

Introduction

As we delve deep into our Shakespearean unit I want the class to get a better understanding of the time period in which Shakespeare's plays were written. Shakespeare lived in 16th century England a very different place culturally, politically, and economically from our own.

Task

By exploring this WebQuest I expect the reader to have learned about 16th century England and William Shakespeare. This information can give us a brief glimpse of what it was like to live during this time. It may even clear up some questions about Shakespeare and what could have influenced him when writing his screenplays. I want this activity to be fun and informative so relax when reading through the material and watching the videos.

Process

Read/Watch the following links to get a better understating of Shakespeares time period.

1. https://www.webpages.uidaho.edu/~sflores/345world.html

2. https://www.english-online.at/literature/william-shakespeare/shakespear…;

3. Watch the short and interesting video below!

Evaluation

In order to fully prepare for your upcoming storyboard and unit test, it is vital that you read/watched the information I provided in this WebQuest. The information can help excel your understanding of Hamlet and other plays by Shakespeare. I want you to actually understand the topic at hand so re-read the information if necessary. I will be evaluating you on the information learned on this WebQuest by putting questions on the test about each of the three links

Below I state how many questions I will ask from each of the three links.

Link 1: 4 questions

Link 2: 4 questions

Link 3: 1 question

Conclusion

I learned a lot while making this WebQuest and hope you did too. Next week in class we may discuss some of the information you had learned when doing this assignment. Stay safe and keep on reading!
