Is Distance Education for You?

Introduction

Are you getting ready to embark on a continuing education journey?  There are more options now for those who are not "traditional" students.  Are you a student who would benefit more with distance education or do you best learn in a traditional classroom setting.  After completing this webquest, I hope that you are able to make a more solid decision on what best fits your needs.

Task

In this webquest:

  • You will learn the advantages and disadvantages of distance education.
  • You will determine if distance education is for you.

  • After reading the articles, choose 2-3 advantages or disadvantages that you feel strongly about.  Write a reflection of your thoughts as to why these things would sway you to participate in or not participate in distance education.

Conclusion

As you have read, distance learning has many advantages and disadvantages.  Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for you or do the disadvantages outweigh the advantages for you?  Are you student who posesses the skills to be succesful in a distance learning program or are you a student who does their best leraning in a traditional classroom setting?  After completing this webquest, it is hopeful that you have made that decision and will successfully carry on with your education in whichever learning environment fits you best!
