Battles of American Revolution WebQuest

Introduction

The 13 colonies formed by the British government in North America were populated by citizens who journeyed to the new world in search a new start and freedom of religion. The colonists were instead met with steep taxes and harsh regulations. The colonists hated the fact that an empire on the other side of the globe was benefitting from their hard-earned work and money. Eventually, the colonists had decided they had enough and tensions boiled over into conflict.

The Revolutionary War took place from 1775-1783 in the ultimate fight for freedom. It was an act of bravery by the colonists for which the world had never seen before. The British "Redcoat" army was feared around the world and admired for their skill. The colonists were considered a bunch of ragtag militia whose lack of experience and training that would make an easy target for the Brits. However, these colonists had a mission and purpose and through unbelievable grit and a new style of fighting known as "guerilla warfare", the colonists won their independence and their freedom which paved the way for the United States as they are known today.

This course will introduce you to some of the most battles that shaped the American Revolution which resulted in one of the greatest military upsets in the history of the world. By analyzing who won the battles and where they took place, our mission is to understand the movements of both armies to better understand the extreme odds the colonists overcame with their victory.
