Introduction
Students will be polishing their English spoken skills and analyzing skills through drama.
Different songs will be played during to put energy/feel into the drama
which will be beneficial for the students to figure out which song/music will be played when
and where. The purpose of drama is that students will enhance their spoken and analyzing skills
by putting them into a situation where they will learn and enjoy.
Task
I taught the story of “Hamlet” by Shakespeare to the class. The story is “Hamlet” full of mystery and
suspense. How the Hamlet’s father, the King of Denmark was killed? The guards of the castle see the
ghost of Hamlet's father. And the ghost tells Hamlet that his uncle, Claudius killed him, so Hamlet went
crazy. The King and Queen think that he is acting strange because he is in love with Ophelia. So they put
him in a room with Ophelia to find out for sure. But Hamlet was mean to her, so his uncle thinks Hamlet
knows he killed his father and that's why he's mad. Ophelia goes crazy because Hamlet says he doesn't
love her and she drowns herself. Her brother blames Hamlet and challenges him to a duel. At the duel,
Claudius puts poison in a glass of wine and on the swords because he wants to kill Hamlet. The Queen
drinks the wine by mistake and dies. Hamlet and Ophelia's brother stab one another with the poison
swords and they both die, but Hamlet kills the king just before he dies.
I have divided the class into two groups. They will be performing a skit on the story of Hamlet in their
own respective/different ways. It will be up to them how will they be depicting the skit or making it
more interesting e.g by using props, charts, lighting etc. I have assigned different roles to my class
students, the skit will be of 10 to 15 minutes. I have given them 6 days to prepare the skit.

Everyone has to be in the class an hour before their performance. The students will provide me with a script/storyboard so that I can see if they have made any creative changes in the story. It is mandatory for every student share their ideas with their respective group fellows to make the skit better. As one group complete their performance, the other group will critically analyze the skit and will write a report on the performance of every character and will submit it to me in the next class.
