Description: This five day web quest carries you on a five day life learning task using a variety of components in social studies American History, World History, Civics/Government, Geography, and Economics.

Introduction: During this Web Quest the students will learn about American History, World History, Civics/Government, Geography, and Economics. The student will learn about everyday life of families throughout the world.
Task
Monday:
The students will learn and discuss why the month of February is important in American History.
The students will research and discuss who is Martin Luther King Jr.?
The students will also research and discuss the history of Martin Luther King Day?
The students will also research what we do to remember Martin Luther King Jr. today.
The students will find pictures of Martin Luther King Jr.
Tuesday:
The students will create a culture collage of different types of families. The students will discuss the different cultures and there similarities in everyday life.
Wednesday:
The student will learn several important facts about African American, and Hispanic The teacher will help students learn facts about Martin Luther King Jr. as being the first African American to march for our freedom. The teacher will help students understand what Martin Luther King Jr. did for our country.
Thursday:
The students will recognize the difference between African American and Hispanic. The teacher will do a power point and a graph of the cultures African American culture and Hispanic culture.
Friday:
The teacher will read the book Community Helpers and People. The students will then discuss the different jobs in the community for people to make a living.

Monday: American History
Concept 1: Research Skills For History
1. The teacher will start out by reading some facts about Martin Luther King Jr., and discuss why the month of February is so important and what the History of Martin Luther King is.
2. The students will go to the rug for story time. The teacher will read a story called "The Story of Martin Luther King Jr." by Johnny Ray Moore.

3. The students will return to their tables
and draw a picture of what they saw and remember from the story.
4. The students will color a picture of
Martin Luther and trace the
letters MLK worksheet for practice.
