Introduction
As we already discussed, some of the ideas Ayn Rand used in the text came from her personal experience growing up in Russia. The purpose of this Web Quest is to introduce you to Ayn Rand’s time in Russia and the impact of her life experience(s) affect her writing.
Task
You will work with your pre-assigned group to develop a PowerPoint presentation on one of the following essential questions.
How did Ayn Rand’s experience growing up in Russia affect her writing?
Process
- What was happening in the world, regarding Government and Revolution, that influenced Rand's writing?
- What is Communism? What were the Communist Countries?
- How did Communist Russia have a direct impact on Rand's life?
- Who is Alexander Kerensky and how did Rand feel about the Revolution? Why would she feel this way?
- What is Fascism?
- Explain Capitalism, Socialism and Marxism. What countries were involved?
- Totalitarianism
- Explain the Bolshevik Revolution (be able to explain who was involved, what caused it, what happened, the result).
- How did Rand feel about the Bolshevik Revolution
- With this information, use historical evidence to explain how Rand’s life experiences affected her writing.
Evaluation
You will be assessed on your ability to thoroughly complete the task. Be sure to follow MLA format, incorporate evidence from your research, and write a well-written response.
