RAINFOREST DESTRUCTION: To Do, Or Not To Do

Introduction

You are a native to the rainforest. Living here, you have seen the natural beauty of this beautiful part of the world. You have recently heard that a major hotel chain wants to come to your area and build a new resort for tourists to come and vacation. They want to tear down the beautiful rainforest that provides many natural resources and homes to people and animals in the area. You have a the task of researching and making a proposal at the town meeting when the citizens of the area will decide if this will be beneficial to the area. Your position is to protect and preserve the rainforest so that future generations can enjoy and benefit from the natural resources the rainforests provide.

Task

It is your job to research and gather data on the preservation and destruction of the rainforests. This will enable you to show why it is beneficial as well as crucial point to keep the rainforest alive and thirving.

Evaluation

Your evaluation for this assignment will be based on:

  • Depth of Research (25%)
  • Accuracy of Data (25%)
  • Timeliness in Completing Research (25%)
  • Presentation of data (25%)

Two team groups will be assigned to present to the city council. The depth, quality, and accuracy of your research will be evaluated by a third team member who will cross check your data. Inconsistencies will be cross checked and evaluated.
