Task

Your task is to choose one notorious mathematician in history and research his/her impact on mathematics in the world we live in today.

Once you have researched your mathematician, you will write an autobiography from the point of view of the mathematician.

What is an autobiography?  An autobiography is an account of a person's life written by that person.

Process

Step 1:  Use the following links to choose and research a famous mathematician.  **If you have already completed the BIOGRAPHY of a Mathematician project, you must choose a DIFFERENT mathematician.**

The Famous People

FAB Pedigree

Famous Mathematicians

Step 2:  Once you choose your mathematician, research him or her to find:

1.  Date and place of birth

2.  Date and place of death

3.  Places the mathematician studied

4.  Living conditions and/or family life

5.  Field(s) of mathematics he/she had an impact

6.  Contributions to mathematics for our world today

Step 3:  Write an autobiography (an account of a person's life written by that person) as if YOU ARE THE MATHEMATICIAN.  You may handwrite (neatly), type into a Google doc and share with me, or you can go all out and make it into a book format.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on the following:

  • Final product is engaging and informative.

  • Student included all information listed about chosen mathematician.

  • Student is able to have a conversation showing a deep understanding of their research.
  • Hard work and effort is evident in the final product.
