Introduction
Have you ever wanted to live on your own planet? What would you love for your planet to have? If you love art and astronomy, grab your space helmet, and let's create something out of this world!
Task
The students will:
-think about their favorite planet and create a mindmap about why it is their favorite, which will also include facts about said planet.
-create a 15-page storybook about their favorite planet, existing or made up.
Process
1. Students will begin thinking about their favorite planet and record at least 10 of their characteristics in a mindmap.
2. Students will create their own storybook using the mindmap (if choosing an existing planet) or can come up with their own made-up planet.
3. Students will use the writing process and draw to complete their storybook.
4. Students will submit their mindmap and storybook for grading after sharing it with their group.
Evaluation
I will be evaluating my students on their ability to correctly identify a planet's characteristic elements, their ability to use the Internet to create a digital 15-page storybook with no grammatical errors and good illustrations, and their ability to be creative by observing, monitoring, and grading their mindmaps and storybooks.
Conclusion
The students will gain an understanding of what characteristics are and use them to identify a certain object. Students will also learn how to create mindmaps and storybooks and their effectiveness in learning. They will showcase their knowledge by presenting their storybooks to their group and submitting it along with the mindmap for grading.
