                                                                                                                   ~ Ariel Guevara

My Definition of the 2nd Amendment:

Amendment 2 states the right to have a gun or bear arms to protect yourself from intruders or people attacking you such as burglers, serial killers or rapists etc.

People should be able to bear arms because it would give protection throughout the country. People who are responsible enough should bear arms otherwise they would be shooting the wrong people at the wrong time. This is why we have multiple crimes involving guns these guns should be given to people other than the police officers. Some people own guns and have irresponsible ownership like for example in Colorado a man had sued for the sops pointing a gun at him. The article states,’’ Police in Colorado Springs, Colo. were so clueless when it came to the state’s own open-carry gun laws that they arrested a man carrying a gun in a public park, which violated the man’s 2nd Amendment rights. The man, James Sorensen, in turn, sued the city. He received a $23,000 settlement from the city. the incident occurred at a gay pride event the day after the Aurora, Colo. movie theater shooting, where a man shot and killed 12 people and injured 70 others. Sorensen was carrying a handgun on his hip, which caused the police to take him into custody. In cell phone video recorded by Sorensen’s partner, Sorensen is threatened with violence by the arresting office. ‘This article shows that the cops had been aware of people having the right to have a gun on them but Sorensen hadn’t done anything wrong all he had done was carry a gun on his hip for his own safety not for the harm of others so the cops had taken him into custody for no reason. I belie form my perspective that Sorensen was allowed to carry a weapon and should not be accused of something he didn’t do. This sounds like stop and frisk to me. What do you think?

Big ideas:

  • Protection from intruders
  • Self defense
  • Infringing

Task

1) Protection From Intruders

http://www.123helpme.com/assets/17414.html

The government is trying to ban people from owning a gun secretly and guns are our only weapon to towards protection from people trying to physically harm you. Due to the amount of crimes and safety, those type of rights could dangerous to personal freedom.

2)Self Defense

http://staugustine.com/opinions/2014-01-12/letter-self-defense-and-2nd-amendment#.UupuZD1dUdU

We have a free state so that makes us able to carry a gun with us for protection of being robbed because there is a better chance of people who get robbed can be able to either shoot the robber or injure the robber. It would be better to injure the robber then kill him because if you kill you could be sentenced to 25 to life or they can pass it. If you injure the person you can shoot them in the leg then wait for the police to come. Self defense is the ultimate right towards fire arms can preserve life.

3) Infringing

http://jpfo.org/filegen-n-z/six-about-2nd.htm

Infringing is against the law and its almost the same as the first amendment because like the first amendment says you have the freedom of speech so you can say anything you want just as long as you know what you’re saying also why your saying it. So it is prohibited that you are infringing on speech and press.

Conclusion

Protection from Intruders: If someone you don’t even know walked into your house how would you respond to them?

Answer: if someone enters my home without even knowing me well I would call 911 and if we went to court I would say that that person is an intruder and that they shouldn’t be in my home

Comment: You’ve answered the question from your perspective but what if 911 hadn’t come on time with the police wouldn’t you try to find a gun then shooting the person? But you’ve still answered the question well.

Self Defense: What would the words (Self defense) mean to you if for example someone is trying to kill you out of nowhere how would respond? Would you rather get shot or shoot the person who is trying to kill you?

Answer: what the words self defense mean to me if someone was trying to kill me is that the person cannot touch me because I’m protected under the second amendment would shoot the person that is trying to kill me because I have the right to protect myself and bear arms

Comment: I love how you responded to this because you are using the protection of your right revealing your actions to your response towards the attacker.

Infringing: According to the 2nd amendment how does infringing apply to it?

Answer: people cannot invade your space if they do your protected under the second amendment and I can’t get hurt.

Comment: This is true but it does not only mean invading your space it means that the say a person is trying to stalk you and this person could kill you because they can hack your information but you can’t  just expect the person to listen to you they won’t care about the 2nd amendment. Everything else is all good. Good try though.
