In this WebQuest, you will become a Disaster Preparedness Team. You will search for information online and use what you learn to create a simple disaster preparedness plan for your family or community.
Task
Your task is to create a Disaster Preparedness Guide.
Your guide should include:
Three common disasters that may happen in your area
What to do before, during, and after each disaster
Important emergency supplies
Emergency contact information
A simple evacuation plan or map
At least three safety tips for families
You may present your work as a poster, infographic, or digital presentation.
Process
Step 1: Choose three disasters that you want to study, such as typhoons, earthquakes, floods, or landslides.
Step 2: Research each disaster using the websites provided in the Resources section.
Step 3: Find out what people should do before, during, and after each disaster.
Step 4: Make a list of important things that should be inside an emergency kit.
Step 5: Create a simple evacuation plan. Show a safe place where your family or community can go during an emergency.
Step 6: Organize your information into a poster, infographic, or presentation.
Step 7: Check your work using the Evaluation rubric before submitting it.
