Introduction
When Hitler and his Nazis brainwashed German citizens, and took over the country, Jewish lives, including the ones of Anne Frank and her family, were put in jeopardy. Fortunately, Anne's father owned a spice business which he would use to keep his family and others protected for two years. Daily life in their hiding spot, the secret annex, was filled with silence and constant worry of being discovered. Anne passed time by writing her thoughts in her diary and spending time with a Jewish boy named Peter Van Pelt. However, little did the families know that they would soon be betrayed and life in the annex would come to an end.
Task
The purpose of this webquest is to put yourself in Anne's shoes and know what it was like to live in the annex. You are to find information on what the interior of the hiding space looked like, the rules the Franks and other families followed, as well as what daily life in hiding was like. Anne couldn't have a normal childhood like German children her age. German children didn't have to worry about being taken away or being quiet all day. By the end of this, you should have a good understanding on the ways Anne would spend her days and the anxiousness everyone in the annex had about being discovered.
Process
To complete this task you must go to the websites listed and read and comprehend the articles. Next, you might want to ask yourself some questions about what you read, and how you would really feel if you were Anne. Also, you may benefit from reading over everything a few more times, and you may even try to sit in as much silence as Anne did for 10 minutes. After that, if you really want even more of an understanding on the subject, you could do extra research with pictures and more articles. Once all this is completed, you may be able to really feel how Anne felt while hiding from the Nazis.

Conclusion
Hopefully, this has given you more of an idea of what it was really like in the secret annex. Although we may never really fully understand how it really felt to be that quiet for that long all while trying to survive the Nazis, we will know how Anne did it. Even though Anne's whole family and the rest of Germany's Jews' lives were put in jeopardy, they still went as far as they needed to stay alive. If Anne's family did not make them hide in the secret annex and if she was never given her diary, history might be drastically different from what it is today. Sadly, Anne did die and didn't continue to write in her diary; however, if she did, we may have learned what life really was like in hiding.
