Introduction

¡Hola estudiantes!

In this WebQuest, you will explore endangered animals in Hispanic countries while practicing your Spanish skills. You will learn new vocabulary, read simple information, and communicate your ideas in Spanish as you discover why these animals are in danger and how we can help protect them.

You will work as a team to research, write, and present your learning using Spanish.

Learning Objective:

Students will identify and describe endangered animals using basic Spanish vocabulary and simple sentences, while practicing reading, writing, and speaking skills in Spanish.

Task

You will work in a group of 4 students to create a Google Slides presentation about one endangered animal found in a Hispanic country.

Your goal is to use Spanish to research, describe, and present information about your animal.

Your project must include:

  • Name of the animal in Spanish
  • Country and habitat (¿Dónde vive?)
  • Why it is endangered (¿Por qué está en peligro?)
  • 3–5 complete sentences in Spanish
  • At least one image
  • One way humans can help protect the animal
Process

Follow these steps to complete your project:

Step 1: Sit with Your Assigned Group

Sit with your assigned group of 4 students. Everyone works together as a team during the entire project.

Step 2: Choose an Animal

Select one endangered animal from a Hispanic country (Examples):

  • El mono araña

  • El pingüino de Galápagos

  • El oso de anteojos

  • La mariposa monarca

Step 3: Research Your Animal

Use these trusted academic websites to find your information:

Find:

  • Where the animal lives

  • What it eats

  • Why is it endangered

  • How can people help

Step 4: Write in Spanish

Use these sentence starters:

  • Vive en…

  • Come…

  • Está en peligro porque…

  • Podemos ayudar…

Use your class notes, anchor charts, and vocabulary lists to help you write your sentences.

You can also:

  • Use your classroom word wall.

  • Ask your teacher for help.

Step 5: Create Your Presentation

Use:

  • Google Slides

Make sure your slides include:

  • Title

  • Information in Spanish

  • At least one image

  • Clear and neat design

Step 6: Practice Your Presentation

  • The speaker leads, but everyone participates.

  • Practice saying your sentences in Spanish.

  • Speak clearly and confidently.

Step 7: Present to the Class

Each group will present their animal using Spanish.

Goal: Use as much Spanish as possible!
