Introduction
It is time to be an animal for a day! You can be anything you want, you can be cold blooded and slither through the woods or you could even be a warm blooded tiger catching your food for the day! There are all different kinds of animals that YOU can be just for one day.
As you know, animals fall into different classifications such as mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, fish and insects! Mammals are warm blooded animals with lots of fur, for example: dogs, cats, tigers, and many many more! Reptiles have millions upon millions of scales that help them in the environment they live in. Amphibians spend most of their life in the water than emerge onto land, toads and frogs are both examples of Amphibians. Birds have feathers that help them fly, unless you decide to be a penguin! Fish live under water their entire lives, because that is how they breathe. Why can't we breathe under water? We do not have gills, of course. So maybe you want to be different and live under water for a day! Insects have six legs, with their skeleton on the outside of their body, How cool is that? Out of these classifications of animals, which one suits you best? You decide.
Task
If you could be an animal for a day, which one would you be? What classification does it belong to as stated in the introduction? Where does it live? Why is it different from other animals? And lastly, why did you pick that specific animal?
You can prepare a video using Adobe Spark or you can prepare a presentation of your animal in google slides; the answers to the above questions must be recorded/ shown in the different slides. You decide how to arrange it! In the first slide, include a picture and write down three interesting facts that I did not require you to answer, but you found out all on your own. The different videos/ presentations will be shared in the class group.
Process
First choose an animal from the classifications: mammal, reptile, amphibian, bird, insect, or fish.
For example: If I picked a bird I would be a hummingbird.
Research your animal:
1.) What class does your animal belong to?
2.) What makes your animal different from other animals? (For example, if you chose a reptile, how is a reptile different from a fish?
3.) Why did you want to be this animal?
4.) Three interesting facts about your animal that you did not know before. (if you found more than three you want to share with the class, you are more than welcome to write more.)
Use these websites to find facts about your animal:
University of Michigan, Museum of Zoology
Finally, find good pictures of your animal. Record/ write the answers you found on the different slides -try to make it as visual as possible, except your three interesting facts, those go onto the same slide where you paste the first picture.
Take into account:
Use between 3-6 slides
Make a plan for your presentation. Decide how you're going to show the information you want to share.
Summarize the information or your research, so the recordings/ texts are NOT very long. Use the correct size of font (clear and readable from the distance) Use a lot of pictures and visuals, a picture is worth a thousand words!

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Presentation | The Ppt/video. is poorly made, and my directions under process were not followed. | The Ppt/video. shows effort, but still did not follow the directions under the processes. | The Ppt./video followed directions, but it was not creative. | The Ppt./video was above and beyond what was asked for, very creative and neat. | |
| Animal Facts | Facts were wrong, or not done at all. | Accurate facts, but there were not 3 facts listed. | There were 3 facts, but they were not true. | There were 3 or more facts, and they were all correct. | |
| Investigation | Showed no effort to do research on the topic | Showed some research on the topic | Showed topic was well researched. | The topic was well researched - student demonstrated a good understanding of the characteristics investigated |
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are many different classifications of animals. As we learned, all of the groups of animals have different qualities but are equally interesting and important to our ecosystem. Each species is unique and has a role to play in our world. I hope you have learned something new, and that you've had a wild time being your animal for the day!!
