Ancient Egypt pyramids

Introduction

In this task we were given the choice of creating a web quest about a topic relating to ancient Egypt and I chose the Pyramids because I find it very interesting on how the pyramids were made and the whole story behind them. i am going to be learning on how the pyramids were made and how they are still standing till this day. The pyramids were first made around 2780 BCE by King Djoser's architect imhotep. The blocks stack from bottom to the top the base of the pyramids being the biggest part giving it the support and the top of the of the pyramid being shape like a triangle to keep the pyramids from falling over

Task

The purpose of this task is to create a better understanding for people younger or older and the web quest allows students to obtain information from the internet through a teacher-led process. WebQuests give students a task that allows them to use their imagination and problem-solving skills. The answers are not predefined and therefore must be discovered or created. Students must use their own creative-thinking and problem-solving skills to find solutions to problems.

In My task i chose to do is the ancient pyramids because the pyramids really has me interested in the fact that the Egyptians could build the pyramids so well that the equipment they used could stay up for this long with only minimum damage.

Ancient Egypt pyramids are some of the most iconic structures in the world. These impressive tombs were constructed over 4,500 years ago by skilled Egyptian architects and labourers. The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as a way to house the bodies of pharaohs and their consorts after death in anticipation of the afterlife. Pyramids were often surrounded by various infrastructure, such as temples and courtyards, which were built by labourers and artisans. The most famous pyramids in Egypt are the Great Pyramids of Giza, which were built during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu in the 26th century BCE. The construction of these pyramids was an incredible feat of engineering and required thousands of labourers working for many years to complete. The pyramids of Egypt continue to inspire and captivate people today, as they offer a glimpse into the mystical and enigmatic world of ancient Egypt.

Process

The construction of pyramids in ancient Egypt was an enormous feat of human engineering and collective effort. The process of building a pyramid typically began by selecting a suitable site and laying the foundation, which required flattening and levelling the ground. Then, enormous blocks of limestone and granite were quarried from distant locations and transported to the site. These blocks were then shaped and placed on top of one another using simple tools and techniques such as levers and ramps. As the pyramid grew in height, additional layers were added and the sides were angled until the pyramid reached its final form. Finally, the pyramid was completed by adding a polished outer layer made of fine white limestone, giving the structure its iconic appearance. The sheer scale and precision of the pyramid-building process is a testament to the ingenuity and skill of the ancient Egyptians.

Pyramids were made by ancient Egyptians using large blocks of limestone and granite. The blocks were quarried from nearby areas and transported to the pyramid site using sledges and ramps. The blocks were then cut and shaped using copper tools and placed in a precise pattern to form the pyramid shape. The pyramid was built layer by layer, with each layer slightly smaller than the one below it. The workers used a system of ramps to move the blocks up to the higher levels of the pyramid. The final layer was capped with a large stone block called the pyramidion. The entire process of building a pyramid could take several decades and required a large workforce of skilled labourers and engineers.

Pyramids were built as tombs for pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods of ancient Egypt. The pharaohs believed that they would continue to rule in the afterlife, and so they constructed elaborate tombs to ensure their safe passage to the afterlife. The pyramids were also built as a symbol of the pharaoh's power and wealth, and were intended to impress and awe the people of Egypt. The construction of a pyramid was a massive undertaking that required a large workforce of skilled laborers and engineers, and the finished product was a testament to the pharaoh's ability to command such resources.

Conclusion

This was my first time doing a web quest at first I found it hard but when I found out what had to be done it became much easier for me to do the work. The web quest I made for aimed for year 10 students because in this web quest about the Pyraminds  there are some words that i think lower year levels wont understand at all so it'll be hard for them to know what those words actucally mean when reading this
