Amelia Earhart

Introduction

I will be interviewing Amelia Earhart for today.

Process

Q1. How old were you when you saw your first plane?

A1. I still remember the day like it was yesterday. I was ten years old and was at a state fair, it is crazy to look back on because I was so uninterested in the rusty old wooden looking thing. It was not until about ten years later when I attended a flying exhibition when I became amazed with planes. https://www.ameliaearhart.com/biography/

Q2. What was it like being the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean?

A2. During this time period, women were really trying to make a name for themselves. It was one of the best feelings in the world, not just when I was in the air flying, but when I landed. I felt like I really made a name for myself and little girls and women looked up to me and who I was becoming. https://www.britannica.com/biography/Amelia-Earhart

Q3. What did you do before flying?

A3. Before I began flying, I was a red cross nurse's aid in World War I. When I returned from Canada which is where I was stationed I applied to Premed at Columbia University in NY. I was then called back home to California which is when I took my first flight. I took lessons and in order to pay for those lesson's I had to work as a filing clerk at the Los Angeles Telephone Company. https://www.history.com/topics/exploration/amelia-earhart

Evaluation

Amelia was a smart girl who when she set her mind to something she got it done. She was and still is a role model to women. Her disapperance is still upsetting to so many people. She broke several records and being the first woman to do so much. She added to her flying success by writing about her expierence, was making fashion statements, etc. https://www.womenshistory.org/education-resources/biographies/amelia-earhart

Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas to Amy Otis Earhart and Edwin Stanton Earhart, followed in 1899 by her sister Muriel. The family moved from Kansas to Iowa to Minnesota to Illinois, where Earhart graduated from high school. During World War I, she left college to work at a Canadian military hospital, where she met aviators and became intrigued with flying. Education for women in this time period was not a popular event. She was able to still make a career without graduating from college. She accomplished a lot in life, more than a lot of people can say for themselves. https://www.notablebiographies.com/Du-Fi/Earhart-Amelia.html
