Introduction

Hello Boys and Girls!
Welcome to our class today. It promised to be a very interesting one.
Today we are going to learn about our teeth.
Our teeth are really important parts of our body! They help us chew our food so we can eat and grow strong. Teeth also help us talk clearly and give us our smiles. Did you know that we have different types of teeth for different jobs? We have sharp teeth in the front for biting, and flat teeth in the back for grinding up our food. Taking care of our teeth by brushing and flossing every day helps keep them healthy and strong!
Did you know that there are four main types of teeth?
Yes, there are four main types. The four main types of teeth are the incisor, molars, premolars and canines. All these teeth are located in our mouth.
The Incisor: our incisors are eight teeth in the front center of our mouth (four on both the bottom and top). These are typically the first adult teeth that a child will get, coming in when the child is between six and eight years old. Incisors are the teeth that we use to bite into our food.
The Canines - our canines are the next teeth that develop in your mouth. we have four of them and they are our sharpest teeth, used for tearing apart food.
The Premolars - Premolars are used for tearing and crushing food. Unlike our incisors and canines, premolars have a flat biting surface. We have eight premolars in total.
The Molars - our molars are your largest teeth. Their function is similar to that of the premolars, to grind, tear, and crush food. Molars have a large flat biting surface which makes them perfect for this job.
Task
Students will demonstrate their understanding of the different types of teeth and the importance of dental hygiene by creating an informative poster.
Process
Materials Needed:
- Poster board or large sheet of paper
- Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
- Pictures of teeth (printed or drawn)
- Glue (if using printed pictures)
- Scissors (optional)
- Toothbrush and toothpaste (optional for illustration)
Instructions:
Title Your Poster: At the top of your poster, write a big title like "Taking Care of Our Teeth" or "The Importance of Healthy Teeth."
Types of Teeth: Draw or paste pictures of the different types of teeth (incisors, canines, molars and premolars) on your poster. Label each type and write a short sentence explaining what each type of tooth does. For example, you can write, "Incisors are for biting."
Dental Hygiene Tips: On the other side of your poster, write down at least three tips for keeping teeth healthy. For example, "Brush your teeth twice a day," or "Don't eat too many sugary snacks."
Illustrate Good Habits: Draw pictures of someone brushing their teeth, flossing, or visiting the dentist. You can even add fun decorations like a big, smiling tooth!
Present Your Poster: Once you've finished, you'll present your poster to the class. Explain the different types of teeth and why it's important to take care of them.
Reflect: After everyone has presented, write a few sentences about what you learned about teeth and why it's important to take care of them.
