All About Graphs

Introduction

Over the next few days, you will be looking at the different types of graphs we are going to use. These include bar graphs, histograms, pie charts, stem and leaf, and box and whisker plots. They all have different qualities you are going to note in your exploration.

Task

Your task is to fill out the handout I provided for you. These are your notes to write down all necessary information and more if you find it useful.

Once you have done this come and see me for data so you can practice graphing on your own.

Process

Go to:https://www.khanacademy.org/math/statistics-probability/analyzing-categorical-data#one-categorical-variable

Step one: Watch Identifying individuals, variables, and categorical variables.

Step two: Watch reading bar graphs,  and bar charts comparing two sets of data.

Step three: Watch reading pie charts.

Finally: Take the mini quiz to move on.

Go to:https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/pre-algebra-math-reasoning/pre-algebra-picture-bar-graphs/v/histograms

Step one: Watch Histograms

Finally: Take the mini quiz- practice reading Histograms

Go to:https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/pre-algebra-math-reasoning/pre-algebra-stem-leaf/v/u08-l1-t2-we3-stem-and-leaf-plots

Watch all videos and take the mini quiz for this section

Go to:https://www.khanacademy.org/math/probability/data-distributions-a1/box--whisker-plots-a1/v/reading-box-and-whisker-plots

Watch the reading box plots and also take the practice quiz.,

Continue to interpreting box plots and that practice as well.
