Introduction
During the 1700's, Britain and France were two of the stongest powers in Europe. The countries competed for wealth and empire throughout the rest of the world. The rivalry between the two countries carried over to their North American colonies, causing bitter feelings between English and french colonists.
This bitterness grew worse when the British decided to move into the Ohio River valley, an area the french regarded as theirs. The tension grew worse in the 1740's when the British began building Forts for fur traders in the Ohio River valley.
The tensions continued to build until they escalated into a war between the two powerful nations. Knowing that they would need allies, both France and England tried to recruit help from the various Native American tribes.
