Step 1

The time has come for you to pick your favorite artist! Choose the one you like the most, and collect information about their career, projects, life, etc. If you need a little extra help, we provide you with a list of the most famous singers.

Step 2

Write a monologue about what you’re going to say in the video that you will record.

The script has to be enough for a one minute video, don’t forget to include at least three chunk words.

You need to include the artist’s name, what does the person do, their career highlights, and a curious fact.

You will have to send this monologue before recording your video to keep on with your work. The script is due on May 19th.

Step 3

Time to record yourself! Don’t forget to impersonate your artist chosen by dressing up as you were them. The video needs to last one minute long and you have to use at least 3 chunk words. If you need any help, we have attached some of the most used English chunks words. You can’t read the script while recording the video.

The video can be recorded on your computer, cellphone, camera, or whatever suits you best!

Step 4

When your video is finished, you need to send it to our e-mails: cgayoso@emingles.ucsc.cl and kbustos@emingles.ucsc.cl. The video will be uploaded to our private Youtube channel. Only you and your classmates will have access to those videos. The video deadline is May 20th, 21:00.

Step 5

The last step of the activity is to write a positive comment to 5 of your classmates’ videos. We will send you an email with the link of the private Youtube channel on May 21st in the morning for you to start commenting on the videos. The videos will be available only on May 21st, so you will have the whole day to write all the comments.

Evaluation

In the following rubric is how we are going to evaluate your video, keep focus in those 5 skills, please.

We present to you the evaluations’ rubric so you can guide yourselves with it and do your best job! Good luck to all of you!

Activity aim: Students will be better able to individually produce and record a monologue about their favorite artist using chunk words.

The activity is based on the chosen OA (Objetivo aprendizaje)  from Unit 3 called: THE ARTS.

This activity was designed for 9th graders, with an English level from A2 to B1.

We planned the activity based on the Chilean Curriculum Nacional. The main goal is for students to have a more natural use of the language by using chunk words that will help them to express ideas more smoothly.

We attach the following link to the curriculum’s document.
