9 Geography WebQuest

Introduction

This term we are learning about the relationships between Biomes, Agriculture and Human Action. 

This WebQuest will explore a current phenomenon that is affecting Australia's society, environment and economy right now! 

- Covid-19 

- Foot and Mouth disease in cattle

Task

WHAT:

Your task is to SELECT one of the topics and INVESTIGATE how it is impacting social, environmental and economical factors 

You then need to EXPLAIN these impacts and IDENTIFY the stakeholders. 

Finally, you will use your findings to EVALUATE how concerned we should be here in Bowen. 

WHY: 

Understanding how you impact the world around you and the people in it is central to being successful in personal and professional relationships. 

HOW: 

Working individually or in pairs - groups of three with teacher approval

Process

STEP ONE: Select a topic (Covid-19 or Foot and Mouth disease) and create a heading in your document (Book/Word/PowerPoint) 

STEP TWO: Use the links below as a START to finding information (you must do your own research) 

STEP THREE: Identify one each of a SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL and ECONOMICAL impact. 

STEP FOUR: Create a question that you can answer about each type of impact. 

STEP FIVE: Research your questions using RELIABLE sources (do NOT use Google's results) 

STEP SIX: Identify stakeholders* who are affected 

STEP SEVEN: Create a text of your choosing to briefly explain the issue, identify and explain the impacts you found and identify stakeholders 

STEP EIGHT: Create a conclusion in which you outline whether we should be concerned in Bowen and give reasons for your conclusion. 

 

*A stakeholder is someone or a group of people who are positively or negatively impacted by your topic/issue
