Introduction

Why did young men and children leave home during the great depression, where did they go, and what were the risks?

During the 1930's, young men and boys weren't very happy. They had to leave home because they got frustrated and needed a job. The dangers weren't very delightful. If they didn't find a job then they wouldn't get money, and some people might pass away because they didn't have enough food and water.

Process

People during the great depression that were unemployed would stay in shantytowns, also known as Hoovervilles. Men who were searching for jobs were forced to stay in public houses or shelters, so in the morning they would go looking for a job again. Men were also forced to stand in bread lines so they could get food for their families. The president, president hoover would provide private charities for families that didn't have jobs. Men would even wear signs on their chests saying what job they wanted, and had a sign on their heads saying a little amount of money they would want for doing the job. Men would not really care and they would go to far away cities to find a job, and they would even leave their families altogether.

Conclusion

At the end of the depression most americans got a job, but not it in the most delightning way. World war II marked the end of the depression and americans who were unemployed, were employed in world war II. Americans would also be employed during the attack on pearl harbor.
