Introduction
Good Afternoon fellow Historians! This month is Black History Month!!! However, we have a HUGE problem. The African American Musuem was broken into last night and a lot of important information was stolen. Could you please help Ms. Dew, Mr. Mundrean, and Mrs. Byrd track down some information and history on different African Americans to replace with the information that was lost? We really need this information before the end of February. We have an important event and if the information is not replaced our event will be ruined.
"Americans have recognized black history annually since 1926, first as "Negro History Week" and later as "Black History Month." What you might not know is that black history had barely begun to be studied—or even documented—when the tradition originated. Although blacks have been in America at least as far back as colonial times, it was not until the 20th century that they gained a respectable presence in the history books."-- As a part of this webquest you will choose an African American who has made a made a significant contribution to the quality of life and learn about him/her. This information will be placed in our museum for viewing. We are so delighted that you are willing to help us solve our problem!

Task
Using the links below in the Process section, you will choose an African American who you feel has made a significant contribution to the quality of life. You will gather information and pictures of this person and then you will organize and compile all of this information into a PowerPoint presentation or a poster that you will be sharing with your classmates and perhaps the entire school.

Explore the links below to find a person and gather information on that person. Be sure to tell which site your information comes from because you will need to site any sources you use at the end of your presentation.

If you find pictures on any of the sites you visit, you can save them to use in your presentation by right-clicking your mouse on the picture and then choose Save Picture As....then be sure to save it in a place where you can get back to it later. | ||||||||||||||

Once you have gathered all the information you need. You may begin to create your presentation. Be sure to include a Title Slide and a slide at the end citing your sources. If you want help in citing the websites you use, you can use the Citation Machine website. | ||||||||||||||
