Task

The End Product:

  1. A 2-page digital policy brief outlining a code of conduct for ethical AI use.
  2. A companion visual infographic (using tools like Canva) summarizing your key findings and recommendations for your peers

Process

Follow these sequential steps to complete your mission:

  • Step 1: Form Teams and Select a Focus Area (Day 1)
    • Form groups of 2 to 3 members.
    • Choose one of three critical areas: (A) Bias and Fairness in Algorithmic Decision-Making, (B) Data Privacy and Protected Information Standards, or (C) Transparency and Authorship in Academic/Professional Work.
  • Step 2: Research and Information Gathering (Days 2–3)
    • Explore the provided web resources below to understand the real-world implications of your chosen topic.
    • Take collaborative notes focusing on what the problem is, who is affected, and what proposed solutions exist.
  • Step 3: Draft the Policy Brief (Day 4)
    • Using your research, outline your policy brief: State the problem, analyze the ethical impact, and propose three actionable guidelines or rules for responsible use.
  • Step 4: Design the Infographic (Day 5)
    • Translate your policy brief into an engaging, visually appealing infographic designed to educate other students.
  • Step 5: Final Review and Submission (Day 6)
    • Check your work against the evaluation rubric, ensure all links/sources are cited properly, and prepare your project for submission.

Grading Scale:

  • 18–20 Points: Excellent (A)
  • 14–17 Points: Proficient (B)
  • 10–13 Points: Satisfactory (C)
  • Below 10 Points: Needs Improvement (Rethink/Resubmit)
