Shakespeare Fun

Introduction

Hello students! 

Before class on December 16, please complete the following project. It will be your final project of this semester and will be a total of 35% of your final grade. This will take some time but if you have kept up with the readings in class, you will be perfectly fine. This project will reflect your knowledge of at least one Shakespeare play and I hope you choose one you did enjoy. Please use font style Times New Roman, size 12, double spaced and header in the top left corner.

  • Briefly describe Shakespeare's childhood
  • Quick background about Shakespeare's writing (political, historical, style)
  • Choose one character to analyze from any Shakespeare play
  • Research the history behind the character
  • Name 3 characteristics that set your chosen character aside from other characters in the play
  • Find one example of irony in the play
  • Find one example of personification in the play
  • Summary of the play
  • Lesson of the play (if there is one)
  • Your favorite Act/Scene of the play
Process
  1. Research the background of SHakespeare as a person and the background of the time period he lived in
  2. Research the meaning behind his writing technique and style
  3. Choose a Shakespeare play
  4. Find a character that stuck out to you
  5. Research the importance of that character
  6. Describe the characters and nature of the character
  7. Find irony and personification in the play
  8. Summarize the play along with stating what the overall lesson or theme was
  9. What was your favorite part? 
  10. Turn in the assignment via email by 11:59 on 12/16/2017

Conclusion

After completing this assignment you will be familiar with Shakespeare himself as a person and a writer. You will know how to analyze a character and a summarize a play as a whole while also picking out theme and lessons of plays. Finally, you will also be able to identify irony and personification.
