Introduction
Hi there Mathematician! Today, we will be learning about order of operations using P.E.M.D.A.S! During this lesson we will be focusing on the evaluating mathematical expressions so that everyone gets the right answer .
Task
Understand the Key Vocabulary:
1. Order of operations- rules used to evaluate expressions
2. Braces { }
3. Brackets [ ]
4. Parenthesis ( )
REMBER the acronym P.E.M.D.A.S stands for :
P-Parenthesis
E-Exponents
M-Multiplications
D-Divisions
A-Additions
S-Subtractions
Process
In solving series of operations, the following rules can be used :
RULE 1: Simplify the operations inside the grouping symbols first. Grouping symbols are always done from the innermost set outward
RULE 2: Evaluate exponential expressions.
RULE 3. Multiply and divide in the order they appear from left to right
RULE 4. From Left to right , add and subtract in the order the appear .
