The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

Introduction

Have you ever thought about how a caterpillar comes to be a butterfly? After reading this WebQuest you will understand the four stages of a butterfly's life cycle.

Questions:

  • What is it that happens during each of the stages?
  • What are the four stages?

Objectives: The children will identify, describe, sequence, and make a project about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Florida Standard: SC.K.L.14.3 - Describe and observe the characteristics of animal and plants.

Task

Get into groups and become Butterfly Scientists! Look into the life cycle of a butterfly and make a small presentation on Canva. 

Make sure to include:

  • One fact and picture for each of the stages
  • The stages are put in the correct order
  • Egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult butterfly

Step two: The Group Roles

  • Designer: Makes the slides
  • Researcher: Gathers the facts

  • Sequence Experts: Puts the stages in correct order

Step three: Collaborate using a shared Google Doc to add ideas, comments, and facts.

Step four: Create you presentation on Canva and check that all of the four stages are included in the presentation. 

Step five: Present your project in front of the class.
