Introduction
Step 1: Describe the learning context
In the world of IT there are many technical jargons which makes it harder to communicate as they are not easily translated in applications such as ‘Microsoft Access’. I decided that we needed to expound on these contexts so that others can understand how to use this application effectively to store data.
As we may already know Microsoft Access defined by Wikipedia is a database management system created by Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a Graphical user interface and software development tool. My goal is to ensure that my audience learn the specific terminologies for Microsoft Access that have special meaning so that even if they speak a different language, they will be able to use this application and to keep the communication open with peers.
Many years ago I applied for an internship to a fortune 50 company close to my home. I worked in the Visual Information networks lab. This opportunity made me understand the importance of English in the IT world. I enjoyed my internship to the point that I remember a lot of the application tools that I was taught up until today and I still highlight it as an important achievement on my resume. The office where I was working used Visual Basic to install and design photocopy machines. I would love the opportunity to teach in the IT sector because there was huge need for translation and documentation in English.
During this lesson plan, I have a test of six basic questions. I also will have a project at the beginning of a 100 minute session that will be translated to English for MS Access by the end of the lesson. An Evaluation, on comprehension, presentation and feed back is also provided.
Task
Step 2: Select a topic
Teaching an IT class of professionals an Access Database and some HTML using English as the second language.
Since most of this area engages in coding and programming, only a few examples will be given. The point of this section is for the business professional to communicate to other business professionals in a technical way using English. Since these professionals would already have experience with the coding in their native languages, I will approach this by teaching HTML and Microsoft Access to non-native speakers so that they can communicate in English. I feel that given the benefits of the course to businesses across the world, the more IT professionals would love to engage in learning ESP in the growing economy.
A lesson plan is provided in the link bellow:
Process

Conclusion
At this point I believe students would have gathered the information necessary to construct a database in Access and HTML using ESL.
