Introduction

Have you ever gotten mad at someone while driving? Ever gotten lost it because someone was driving really slow and you had somewhere to be? Road rage is one of the leading causes in all car incidents. Teenagers are more prone to getting in to road rage because our emotions are hightined. Lets learn how to control our emotions and how to deal with other drivers road rage.

 

Aggressive Driving & Road Rage: More Common Than You Think

Task

Before driving one should:

1.) Check in with yourself. make sure you have a positive attitude.

2.) Also make sure you are feeling well and are able to drive

3.) Get enough rest at night so you're not tired on the road. (can contribute to road rage)

4.) Plan out your drives ahead of time. 

 

Process

Drivers could be more at risk for road rage when they are having a bad day, in the rush to someplace, or see reckless and unexpected behavior from other drivers on the road. To deal with others road rage which might include: honking the horn, and throwing the middle finger, you would want to remain calm, because it could easily escalate to something very serious. Also try to get out of the same lane as them and if its very serious get off the same road or highway as them. 

When dealing with confrontation, always be cautious. You never know what the other person may have in their hand or not. Always try to avoid confrontations because they are prone to end bad. Try to talk it out with the person and come up with a solution. if no solution can be found call the cops to intervene.

 

 

Evaluation

Studies show that 79% (nearly 8 in 10) of American drivers demonstrate aggressive behavior. However, males are more likely to exhibit road rage behaviors and have road rage directed at them. That said, there are more male drivers on the road overall, which could influence the prevalence.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), aggressive driving is the culprit behind 66% of traffic fatalities. SafeMotorist estimates that at least 1,800 car accidents and injuries can be attributed to road rage incidents every year.

Conclusion

After a long day at work, you run into someone who's aggressively driving on the road. While getting upset because they were effecting how you were driving you stayed calm instead of honking the horn at them. You safely drive home to see your family at home waiting for you. You settle in and start to eat dinner with the tv on. The tv shows that same driver in a car accident and barely alive. You realize that could've been you but because you chose to remain calm it wasn't.

In conclusion driving is very dangerous and requires managing a lot of time and space. By looking out for dangers such as road rage you increase your safety of you and others around you. As the saying goes " I love me", you love yourself while on the road driving and act as if you love others on the road too.
