Introduction

On April 19, 1995 at approximately 9:02 am, the north side of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was bombed; killing 168 people. After investigating the bombing, it was discovered that the bombing was a deliberate act of domestic terrorism.

Task
  • Students should define in their own words what terrorism means.
  • Students will discuss in groups of four, the investigation of the bombing and how the public helped in solving the investigation.

  • The groups will then turn in a journal entry explaining (1) their thoughts, (2) what could be done to prevent this kind of behavior in people, and (3) what could be done to prevent these situations in general.

Process
  • To complete the task assigned, use the resource web site linked on this page under CREDITS. Help your classmates look through the web site and the evidence found during the investigation.

  • To avoid bad time management, talk to each other and write ideas down. Have one person write the journal entry, and everyone give advice.
