Introduction

Every day people throw out millions of items, but not everything is trash. There is a vast amount of it that can be recycled, reused, or even upcycled. This activity will show you the importance of recycling and help you develop a strategy to improve recycling in your community.

Task

You will:

  1. Research why recycling matters.
  2. Learn what materials can be recycled (and what can't).
  3. Create a recycling awareness campaign for your school or community.

Your campaign will include:

  1. A poster, flyer, or short video
  2. Key facts about recycling
  3. Tips for what people should do
  4. A creative slogan or message

You will present your project. 

Process

Step 1: Learn About Recycling

Explore the internet to understand:

  • What recycling is
  • Why it’s important
  • What materials can be recycled and what can't
  • What happens when people don't recycle

Step 2: Plan Your Campaign

  • Think about your audience: students, teachers, families.
  • What message will convince them to recycle?
  • What message will convince them to recycle?

Step 3: Create Your Awareness Material

Choose your format:

  • Poster
  • Flyer
  • Short video (1-2 minutes)

Step 4: Use Facts and Creativity

Include:

  • At least three important facts about recycling
  • Instructions (what can/can’t be recycled)
  • Eye-catching design or creative storytelling

Step 5: Present in Class

Explain your campaign and why recycling is so important.
