Introduction

Zimbabwe, a landlocked nation in southern Africa, boasts a rich and diverse cultural heritage shaped by its complex history (Mlambo, 2013). From the ancient stone structures, such as Great Zimbabwe, to the vibrant traditions of its people, Zimbabwe's history is a testament to the resilience and creativity of its communities (Garlake, 1973). With over 16 official languages and a multitude of ethnic groups, including the Shona and Ndebele, Zimbabwe's cultural landscape is characterized by a dynamic interplay of traditions, customs, and beliefs (Mandiyanike, 2009).

Zimbabwe's history has been influenced by various factors, including the legacy of colonialism, the struggle for independence, and the efforts to build a unified national identity (Ranger, 1985). The country's cultural heritage is reflected in its vibrant traditions, music, and art (Chitando, 2002). The Shona and Ndebele people, two of the largest ethnic groups, have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional music, dance, and art (Matyszak, 2012).

These include national heroes like Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo, who played key roles in the country's struggle for independence (Kriger, 2003). Other notable figures include writers like Chenjerai Hove and Dambudzo Marechera, who have contributed to the country's literature.
