Introduction

Welcome to an exciting learning journey where you become the founder of a new tech startup!

In this WebQuest, you’ll explore what it takes to solve real-world problems through innovation. As a team of young entrepreneurs, your mission is to brainstorm a tech idea, design a brand, create a homepage mockup, and pitch your startup. 🚀

You’ll use connectivism to explore global tech ideas and constructivism by creating your own solutions and learning by doing.

Task

You and your team will:

  • Identify a problem you care about.
  • Design a tech solution as your startup idea.
  • Create a logo and homepage design.
  • Write a 1-page business plan.
  • Present your startup to your classmates.

Startup Idea & Solution Innovative, feasible, and clearly solves the problem in a creative way. Idea is practical and addresses the problem. Idea is somewhat relevant but lacks innovation or depth. Idea is unclear, unfeasible, or unrelated to the problem.
Logo & Branding Logo, name, and slogan are highly creative, aligned with the mission, and professional. Logo and branding are appropriate and fairly creative. Logo or name is basic or lacks connection to the mission. Logo and branding are incomplete or unoriginal.
Homepage Mockup Professionally designed, visually appealing, with all key elements included. Clearly shows features and brand, with good layout. Mockup is functional but lacks visual clarity or polish. Mockup is poorly designed or missing key elements.
Business Plan (1 Page) Clear, concise, and well-structured with all required sections fully developed. Covers all required sections with sufficient detail. Covers some sections, with minimal or unclear details. Missing sections or lacks clarity and coherence.
Team Collaboration All members contributed equally and worked together smoothly. Most members participated actively. Uneven participation or some teamwork issues. Poor collaboration or one person did most of the work.
Presentation Skills Confident, well-rehearsed, engaging, and within time limit. Clear and organized, but may lack polish or timing. Somewhat unclear or unprepared presentation. Presentation is disorganized, rushed, or lacking member input.
Use of Technology & Tools Excellent use of tools like Canva, Figma, Docs, and research sites. Good use of most tools with moderate skill. Minimal tool usage or improper application. Tools were not used effectively or not used at all.

Overview

This WebQuest is designed to help students develop entrepreneurial thinking by guiding them through the process of launching a fictional tech startup. It combines creativity, research, teamwork, and presentation skills — aligned with PBL (Project-Based Learning) principles.
