Build Your Own Food Business

Introduction

Have you ever dreamed of starting your own food business? Maybe selling snacks, drinks, or homemade goodies? In this WebQuest, you and your group will become food entrepreneurs! You’ll research, plan, and develop a small food business idea—from concept to marketing. You will create a product, calculate its cost, and design a marketing campaign. This is your chance to turn your ideas into something real and exciting!

Task

You will work in a group to develop a small food business idea. Your final output will include:

 

A creative food product idea

 

A basic business plan (including cost and pricing)

 

A digital marketing poster or short video ad

 

A group presentation to "pitch" your idea to the class

 

 

Your goal is to show that your product is tasty, affordable, and ready for

the market!

Process

1. Form groups of 3–4 students.

 

 

2. Choose a food product (e.g., chips, cookies, flavored drinks, native snacks).

 

 

3. Do research using the links provided:

 

What ingredients and tools do you need?

 

What are the costs?

 

How will you package and price your product?

 

 

 

4. Create a short business plan that includes:

 

Product name and description

 

Target market

 

Costing (raw materials, packaging, etc.)

 

Selling price and estimated profit

 

 

 

5. Design a marketing material:

 

Use Canva to make a digital flyer OR

 

Record a 1-minute promotional video
