Pass the message Activity

Introduction

Term Familiarity is a crucial step in learning. If one knows the word without even saying the actual term. it implies that they have already learned it. One activity that can seal that fact is by practicing their knowledge through a game. "Pass the clue" activity is like the all-time favorite ice breaker, "pass the message" but with a twist.

Task

The goal of this activity is to make sure that after every lesson, the students will be able to define or recall what was discussed. Giving them the opportunity to practice the knowledge they recently acquired. Following the same principle from the game "pass the message", they will be given a main word and a list of words they cannot use to describe the main word. The students should pass their own definition from one end to the other and have the last one guess what it is and present it to the teacher for checking.

Process

The class should be divided into groups, not smaller than three members. There should be an actor, who will describe the given main word. There should also be a receiver, who will be anywhere in the middle to receive and pass the given description by the actor. There should also be an answerer, who will be the last member on the line and who will give the answer to the teacher. The game will start with the actor receiving the main word and a list of words that the actor cannot use to describe the main word from the teacher. The actor should think of a reference that he thinks the answerer will know. The actor should not make any of the receivers guess the word upon receiving it, only to relay what actor said. Upon reaching the answerer, the answerer then should guess the word using the description relayed. The answerer should let the teacher know of the answer and see if the answerer got it right. If not, they can reset the whole process with the actor thinking of another description or using the same but they have to start from the beggining again.

Evaluation

This activity promotes collaboration and interaction within the students and teacher. It follows the idea of the teacher being a facilitator of learning because in this game the students will use their own words in making the members understand that will make them correctly guess the word. It allows them to practice with the use of their cognitive and metacognitive capability.

Conclusion

This will he a helpful way to instill teamwork, leadership, and learnings that the students recently acquired in class. It will put into practice their cognitive and metacognitive thinking abilities.
