Human rights( Migration and refugees)

Introduction

The phrase “What if one blog post could change someone’s life for the better” is a good thought-provoking statement.

In this WebQuest, you will become a digital advocate by discovering untold human rights narratives. These narratives will help you analyze dignity, freedom, and justice and how people are denied or protected every single day. You will think critically about why these issues matter and how your voice, in the form of a blog, can indeed make a difference. Now think about it… while in most situations remaining silent means passively agreeing to something, in this scenario you have a choice to change everything.

Task

Your objective now is to explore the articulation of human rights and their influences upon individual lives as well as global society. Participation in both developmental and collaborative activities will help you to answer this overarching query:

How can modern blogging be leveraged to create awareness and provoke action toward human rights issues?

 Highlighted performance measures:

· Define and discuss several human rights along with their importance to today’s world.

· Conduct thorough analysis of human rights abuse cases based on credible online resources.

· Compose an impactful blog post on a human rights issue that you are passionate about and wish to support.

· Engage in online discussions and provide comments on colleagues’ work to foster a positive atmosphere.

· Consider how the blogging and learning you engage in relate to responsible citizenship and global awareness.

Process

Step 1: Study, Observe, and Contemplate

Constructing your human rights knowledge framework should start with these resources:

Read: Universal Declaration of Human Rights (https://www.un.org/en/about-us/universal-declaration-of-human-rights)

Listen: Amnesty International Podcast - What Are Human Rights.

Watch: IHR Videos “What Are Human Rights?”

In your own words, explain the essence of human rights in 5-7 sentences.

Write a vocabulary journal noting 5 key terms from the materials (e.g., dignity, justice, equity) these social issues.

Write a short reflection: Which sticks out right to you most, and why?

Step 2: Problem Assessment

From the topics provided, choose a contemporary problem in human rights for analysis.

Use the following primary sources:

Human Rights Watch

Amnesty International

UNICEF

Choose one problem (i.e., access to education, freedom of speech, and rights of refugees).

Find 2-3 documents or media pieces that elaborate on the problem.

Summarize the documents and record the most important statement on Padlet or Google Docs.

Include a short personal comment or curiosity about the problem.

Step 3: Blog Planning & Peer Collaboration

Let us work further into advocacy blogs and outline their structure.

Plan your blog post using a graphic organizer or an outline template.

Include all relevant parts: intro, background information, analysis, multi-media elements, and call to action.

Engage your partner in a peer review for them to give feedback on your draft.

Employ a feedback checklist to ensure feedback given and received is constructive.

Step 4: Publish Private blogs or Internet show and tell Work on done publication

Go enthusiastically with your voice that is shareable publicly.

Complete your blog on WordPress, Blogger or Google Sites.

Add at least one multimedia element (image, video, infographic).

Publish your submission and send the link to your class for review.

Use comments in at least two respectful and constructive ways by providing feedback that demonstrates sound reasoning to your peers’ blogs.

Step 5: Look Back Reflection & Connection

Put an end to this WebQuest by looking backwards and forwards.

Provide a detailed reflective analysis with the following prompts:

 Discuss my human rights learnings.

Evaluate how blogging lets me express my thoughts on an issue.

Depict-envision some domains where I would love to build an impact in the coming days.

As an option provide a short video, audio, or visual reflection.
