Esports

Introduction

In the modern age, technology is everywhere, and video games are no different. Today, we will be learning about Esports: a competitive online gaming industry that has taken the world by storm.

Task

Create your own definition of the term Esports and find one specific Esport game that interests you. Present some fun facts about your video game related to Esports. Some examples could be potential earnings for Esports athletes, job opportunities within the gaming space, and audience numbers at major Esports events. Once gathered, compile all of your information onto a poster that includes engaging visuals.

Process

1. First, use this website to get an overview of what Esports generally are: https://www.britannica.com/sports/esports

2. Create a definition of the term Esports based on the link and any other information. Underline any key words in your definition.

3. After you have created your definition, do some research on a specific Esport game using the following links to choose one: https://gamesight.io/leaderboards/esports-gameshttps://esportsinsider.com/biggest-esports-games-2025https://www.usacademicesports.com/post/best-esports-games

4. Once you have chosen your game, give a brief overview of the game. What makes it a good Esport? Is it a popular game? How many people play it and how many people watch the Esports events live? Try to present this section in a way so that someone who has never heard of the video game can understand why it is popular.

5. Finally, put it all together on your Poster Project. Find some pictures of the game and/or logos of the teams that play to give your classmates a visual aid that supports your research. Your poster should include the following: your definition of the term Esports, your game that you chose, and any interesting facts about the game related to the Esports industry. And be sure to include at least 2 visuals on your poster.

6. Once your poster is finished, you will present your research to the class. During your presentation, make sure to cite at least two websites that you gathered information from.
