What does it mean to give back? Why do people volunteer, and how does it shape a community? In this WebQuest, you'll explore the power of volunteerism and discover how YOU can make a difference.
Task
Your mission is to become a community ambassador. In a group, you’ll research local volunteer opportunities, assess community needs, and design a proposal for a volunteer project that could benefit your school or neighborhood. You'll present your proposal to a mock “community board” (your classmates and teacher).
Process
1. Explore Volunteerism
-What is volunteerism?
-Why do people volunteer?
-Benefits to individuals and communities.
2. Investigate Needs
-What are the most pressing issues in our community?
-What groups are currently involved in volunteer work?
3. Research Organizations
- Find at least three local volunteer opportunities.
-Interview or contact (email/social media) one group if possible.
4. Design Your Project
-Choose an issue.
-Plan a volunteer effort to address it.
-Outline goals, roles, timeline, materials, and potential partners.
5. Present
-Use a slide deck, poster, or video.
-Explain the problem, your plan, and expected outcomes.
